Project Management Fundamentals (PMP)
Understanding Projects and Project Management
What is a Project?
A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result.
According to PMI (Project Management Institute), every project has a defined beginning and end and produces a unique outcome.
Key Characteristics of a Project
⏳ Temporary
Has a definite start and finish. It does not continue indefinitely.
✨ Unique
Creates a distinct product, service, or result with unique requirements and stakeholders.
📈 Progressively Elaborated
Details become clearer over time and planning is refined as the project progresses.
Examples of Projects
- 🏢 Constructing a new office building
- 📱 Developing a mobile application
- 🎤 Organizing a conference
- 💰 Implementing a payroll system
- 🚀 Launching a new product
Project vs. Operations
| Project | Operations |
|---|---|
| Temporary | Ongoing |
| Creates a unique outcome | Produces repetitive outputs |
